Anyone in any doubt about the ghastly state of air quality in our neighbourhood need only look at this poor, miserable daffodil – one of the bulbs we planted to brighten up the kerbside this spring.

Flower has died but just look at all that filthy gunk it has picked up.

Children walk up this congested road on a daily basis on their way to the Priory and Garfield School. Yet there is no monitoring of air quality or pollution levels on this over-stretched junction where traffic jams are the norm, and as far as we know, no plan to manage or reduce vehicular movements. There is no cycle lane and next to nothing in the way of vegetation to mitigate the effect of traffic fumes.
