You may be aware of an ongoing rubbish dump situation outside our little parade of shops on Haydons Road. Endless bags of garbage are being left on the roadside outside the Stateside Diner and the Chinese clinic opposite, as well as further up the road towards Plough Lane, and in numerous other spots.

The council is aware, and images are frequently posted on social media of the mess that builds up.
Warning/reminder signs have been put up reiterating that bags should only be put out on rubbish collection days.
Our local councillor Ed Gretton has made repeated efforts to get the issue resolved. As a result, Merton Council has, we understand, already issued a Fixed Penalty Notice to one of the residents concerned, plus a statutory notice to one of the businesses to prove they have satisfactory waste arrangements in place.
Cllr Gretton stated recently on Twitter: “I have sent to the Council’s enforcement team and asked them to visit today. Given the long standing common practice of these fly-tips, I have also asked them to consider court action / formal prosecutions going forward, as opposed to fixed penalty notices.”
Must say I assumed rubbish dumped on The Parade was from the Stateside Diner and the pizza place – I think their frontages are pretty appalling and wonder why they cant see that. Recent random fly-posting about some school event didn’t help.
Interested to learn more of local councillor Ed Gretton’s repeated efforts to get the issue resolved, and name the resident and business responsible.
